The course is conducted in collaboration with The Marine School of South Shields, U.K. and approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (UK) & Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA)

Aim

  • To develop the competency required to enable the student to carry out his duties as a Deck Officer in the Merchant Navy.
  • To provide the student with a qualification which will be accepted by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (UK) as giving exemption from parts of their Deck Officer Certificates of Competency at Class 2 and Class 1 levels, and to satisfy the initial training requirements of the MCA, for entry to Class3.
  • To satisfy all the requirements laid down by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the Merchant Navy Training Board and the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers

Eligibility

Educational Qualification :

A pass in Plus Two (12th Standard) or its equivalent preferably with minimum 50% aggregate in Maths. Physics and Chemistry group in Class XII, and preferably at least 50% in English.

Age Limit :

Preferably 17 to 25 years at the time of entry.

Physical Requirement :

You should be physically fit under standard norms and as per MSN 1765(M)
